I want to share with you an excerpt from a letter I received this past week—it was so profound and impactful that I couldn’t keep it to myself.

“I understand NOW, taking this DECISION to act THEN, was a starting point that enriched many aspects of our lives: family, finances, spirituality, social connections, education, business, knowledge, but most importantly, it cultivated a growth mindset and taught us how to maintain financial discipline.”

The words were written by a remarkable woman who, alongside her husband, has built a portfolio of 17 properties in 25 years. An incredible achievement that reflects financial success and underscores the power of a strong goal paired with a growth-oriented mindset.

I first met this couple 14 years ago when I was 21. At the time, they owned nine investment properties and were already an inspiration. Since then, they’ve continued to build upon their success, reaching new heights in their lives, personally and financially.

To put their success in perspective, it’s worth noting that fewer than 20,000 Australians own six or more investment properties – and that’s out of a population of 27 million. And while the ATO doesn’t track exactly how many own 17, I’d estimate it’s fewer than 3,000 of us.

What this means is that this couple isn’t just successful, they’re part of an elite group who’ve achieved something extraordinary. And the more successful someone is, the more obvious what they do to achieve their success becomes.

The thing that jumps out to me is that this couple’s success it’s as much to do with their investment strategy as it is to do with the mindset that drives it.

As she so eloquently put it, this mindset doesn’t just fuel financial growth – it enhances every area of life: relationships, personal development, emotional well-being, and more.

The best part? This mindset is something we can all adopt – regardless of our starting point.

The letter also revealed what they consider makes them different to most other people.

As she reflects:

“I remember at one seminar, before webinars and the internet, you had asked why only around 10% of your clients continued, and I am not sure what the answer is, I think life just gets in the way. So, what made the difference in our lives is that we stayed on course? I think it was the clear vision on what we wanted to achieve, to be specific, measured, but most of all you somehow instilled the discipline and consistency over the years, which enabled me to develop valuable skills, set goals, use time effectively, to network and seek mentorship, to monitor progress, to stay motivated and be resilient.

I think it must stem from a clear DECISION we decided to make, it all started there!

We are only 25 years into our real estate journey, and it is fascinating to see the capital growth and return on our investments. It’s so true that most people overestimate what they can achieve in a year but underestimate what they can achieve in a decade or two or three, and so on.”

So the takeaway here is that success isn’t just about knowledge or strategy. It’s about the mindset you develop, the habits you form, and the environment in which you surround yourself.

Clear, measurable goals that reflect what we value provide us with the mental clarity to know what decisions are best for us. But even more important is the discipline to remain patient, stay focused, and keep taking small, consistent steps. Those steps – no matter how small – add up over time.

So, let me ask, what’s stopping you? What’s holding you back from making the clear, decisive commitment to your success?

Your vision may evolve, and that’s okay. What matters is that you continue to move forward with clarity every day.

Take the first step today. Decide to start your journey with a clear vision of where you want to go. It doesn’t matter how big or small that goal is. That one decision could change everything.
